Well, I am a pastel portraitist……not by trade but by avocation. I love portraiture, and to be more accurate, I create portraits in Pastel, Charcoal and Graphite. My “company” as it were (DBA truth be told) is CyberLight Studios…a name and domain that I’ve owned for many years. Things have been very busy lately, so I’ve not gotten any real work done, but I’m going to be redoubling my efforts to get some good stuff done soon….you can take a look at what other artists have done at this wonderful site, of which I’ve been a member for a long time….
The lovely little girl that graces my blog is my daughter Kyra (say Kear’-uh, not Kye’-ruh…we hate that)…she was only 4 at the time, she’s 8 now….and the finished portrait hangs in my parents house.

It’s difficult to overestimate the power of SAD to ruin your day. During these late winter months, it almost seems that winter will never end…here in northern Michigan, we’ve got 9 months of snow, and 3 months of bad sledding a year.
Seems the SATs are now 2400 points, lots of reading and writing. Pretty controversial I’m told. Standardized tests are so worthwhile. Lots of folks think that the SATs should be optional. I’m not sure what we should do, but something tells me that there’s going to be big controversy over this.
Bush is pushing his social security plan. What other crap is he going to try to shove down our throats? Wipe out bankruptcy protection for folks in crisis, and then make it difficult to even be certian of your social security check. Where are we going to get the trillions of dollars to fund the program….borrow it from Bill Gates? Privatization symbolizes the switch from caring about each other, to caring about just me. I’m no longer paying and caring for others….I’m paying for and worrying about myself. Sure, I own the money….the government can’t take it away…..what money? When the market takes a dump….so do I?

I’ve been reading (both in print form and via Audible audiobook) “The Fabric of the Cosmos” by Brian Greene. Wow. Dr. Greene is a worthy successor to my mentor, the late Dr. Carl Sagan. I can’t say enough about the goodness of this book….many pages of reading goodness. You can get it here:

And NO, I’m not affilliated with, nor do I get Kickbacks from Amazon. I just know a good science book when I read one.
Ok, I gotta stop now and get some sleep. Too many days with too little sleep makes me write bad code.

Ok, so I REALLY like my new ipod (40GB 4G). I REALLY DON”T LIKE THAT I BOUGHT IT 2 WEEKS BEFORE THE NEW iPOD PHOTOS CAME OUT AT THE SAME PRICE.
